About

How do we accomplish this?

Partnership – CCAP is committed to identifying and working with service organizations and caring individuals at every opportunity. We will leverage our resources by piggybacking efforts with community and regional partners.
Respect – Building relationships is key to working with people and families in need. We accomplish this with a foundation of respect.
Empowerment – “Teach a man to fish” We will work to provide tools, training, and connections to resources that allow people to lift themselves.
Inspiration – People will use empowerment tools when inspired to dream and pursue a better future.

Our Vision

We dream of a caring network of people and organizations
that create a community where we all can prosper and grow.

Our Mission

CCAP exists to cultivate a network of service organizations
that empower people in need.

History

2013

Robert E. L. Johnson, Ph.D., founded CCAP after being discharged from Lake Point Rehabilitation Center in Rowlett, where he met his home health aide, Hazel Mayberry. During their time together, Hazel and Dr. Johnson often discussed the young men in her community, many of whom she felt were not entering adulthood as well-equipped as she hoped they could be. Inspired by these conversations, Dr. Johnson partnered with Dr. John Ballotti to establish CCAP, with the goal of leveling the playing field and supporting those in the community who needed a hand up—not a handout.

2018

Launched in April 2018, the We Care Fair was created to connect individuals and families in our community with the resources and support they need most. Bringing together local organizations, service providers, and volunteers, the fair serves as a one-stop event where attendees can access information, assistance, and opportunities to improve their quality of life. At its heart, the We Care Fair is about building connections, strengthening community, and showing that together—we care.

2018

ONCE, Organizations in Commerce, was formed. ONCE is a collaborative alliance of service-oriented organizations, businesses, and nonprofits working together to strengthen our communities through shared purpose and partnership. We believe that lasting change happens when organizations connect, communicate, and combine their unique strengths to make a collective impact.

Through networking events, joint initiatives, and community outreach programs, ONCE provides a platform for members to collaborate on meaningful projects that address local needs—whether it’s supporting families in crisis, improving education, fostering economic growth, or enhancing neighborhood well-being.
